As we age, our facial skin loosens and wrinkles, causing drooping brows as well as creases and lines that can make us appear angry, sad, old or tired. The skin begins to lose its elasticity. Sun, wind, and the pull of gravity all affect the face, resulting in frown lines, wrinkling across the forehead, and an increasing heaviness of the eyebrows.A forehead lift, also called a browlift, corrects the drooping or low position of the eyebrows. Browlifts are often performed in conjunction with other facial cosmetic procedures, especially upper and lower eyelid lifts (blepharoplasty) to achieve a more natural, harmonious facial appearance. The submuscular aponeurotic system (SMAS) has been steeped in controversy. The goal of our anatomic study was to further clarify the existence of the SMAS. Facelift surgery has undergone a major evolution since Lexer performed the first face lift operation in 1906 and Hollander subsequently reported a case in 1912.1 These pioneering procedures simply involved removal of the excessive skin.

SMAS is the layer of connective tissue between your outer skin layer and the muscles below your skin. By tightening the SMAS layer, drooping facial features are restored to a more youthful face position. (more…)

An S-Lift procedure may be performed in your doctor’s office or in an outpatient surgical facility. Pre-medication is generally recommended to relax the patient. An S-Lift is performed using a special anesthetic solution, which is injected in the area forward of the ears. This fluid gently lifts the skin from the underlying tissue.
The short-scar facelift is particularly suitable on younger patients in their thirties, forties and sometimes fifties. It can be combined with liposuction in the neck area or blepharoplasty to give a remarkable overall improvement.
The S Lift is an ideal alternative to conventional lower face lifts. The procedure time is approximately 60 minutes and is usually performed as a Day Procedure. The S Lift can be combined with other procedures, such as a brow lift or eyelid lift or skin rejuvenation. (more…)

Featherlift

Instead of the invasive, traditional facelift that involves the removal of skin, fat and tissue, the FeatherLift® system uses barbed threads to pull skin tighter without cutting. The Featherlift technique developed in 1996 by Russian father and son cosmetic surgeons Drs. Marlen and Georgi Sulamanidze, involves the use of suture like threads made from a special bio-compatible material.
The procedure actually involves facial lifting, (not pulling) which is done with Aptos threads. The Aptos threads are made of a monofilament material call “polypropylene”. A full face featherlift would require 18 threads, usually 2 for each brow, 3 for each cheek, 2 for each jaw line and 2 for each side of the neck, although not everyone may need a full lifting procedure. New technique has been used for the past 5 years as alternative to the more surgically invasive face-lift . This procedure is used to reduce wrinkles around the throat, neck, brows and cheeks. By the technique of Aptos Lift or Soft Fast Lift, the surgeon uses resolvable anti-drooping suturing threads which are placed (using special thin needle cannulas) underneath the skin surface on the area to be treated. Once inserted under the skin, The Aptos® thread cogs will form a support structure for the tissue of the face. (more…)
