Lower body, buttock and thigh lifting procedures are used to elevate the lower body, buttocks and thighs while excising redundant tissues. Excess skin and fat are removed and the remaining tissues are tightened to produce a more attractive body contour.

A thigh lift is a surgical procedure to remove skin and fat from the thighs to tighten the skin and improve the contour of the legs. A thigh lift may also be performed in combination with another type of surgery, for instance in combination with an arm lift.

It is important to understand that the goal of these procedures is to improve the overall appearance while minimizing the risk for complications. The scars that result from the outer thigh/buttock lift typically follow the waistline and are well covered by bathing suits and or undergarments.

Lifting the entire thigh and buttock (also known as circumferential lower body lift) requires much longer incisions. These incisions are made starting in the buttock crease, then extending around the groin, up and over the side of the abdomen, over the flank and then across the back. Performed as an outpatient procedure with general anesthesia, the surgery can be done in combination with a butt lift. Many surgeons plan for the surgery so that the final scar is hidden within the groin crease.  By shortening incisions, deep tissue tightening and combining liposuction to the thigh and buttock lift procedure; long-term results can be excellent. Scar revisions are occasionally desired to obtain the best result.
